I am a convinced Amercan big tech blocker, because almost all of them actively support an autocratic regime that is reckless, selfish, indifferent about human lives, lies knowingly and maliciously and is a danger to the world and everything good we built up in the last hundred years. Everyone who has an account on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn or is buying from Amazon and Tesla, is legitimizing and supporting the regime. Which in fact means you have blood on your hands as e.g. USAID was cancelled, Ukraine was shut off from intelligence and people are deported, resulting in dehumanization and even loss of lives. Using these social media platforms is the new slavery, because your fear of losing followers outweighs participation in the lie. Or as Václav Havel, Czech dissident and politician, put it: “Those who accept living the lie are themselves active participants in the dictatorship”.
I respect your (different) opinion, just don’t cry about how the world is changing and at the same time still support big tech. It’s one or the other.
